Perspective. What’s yours?

The secret to life…

I was praying about some things and people that God laid on my heart and also those that I know are going through. Once I stopped and sat quietly to just listen, He said, “Perspective.”

He gave me these scriptures:  Matthew 6:25-34, Philippians 1:12-14 and Philippians 4:11-12.

I read and studied them as I reflected on my life, circumstances and state of mind.

Perspective means a mental view or prospect.

-attitude

-mindset

-viewpoint

-way of looking

It’s how you view things. And how many know that HOW you VIEW things is EVERYTHING?

Have you heard the saying that life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of HOW you react to it?” Your reactions are tied to your viewpoint of said situations. How do you interpret what is going on? Our attitude and perspective, shapes our beliefs and desires.

What if your perspective was that life happens? Things will occur and you have to role with it? Or that woe is me because life happens and you lose all coping mechanisms, when things are tough?

I posted a meme before on my Instagram, and I will share it here.fall down stairs meme

It sums up my perspective as it relates to life. Walking with God through my various trials has helped me to grow stronger in this viewpoint. I understand that He is with me, and I will not fall.

Situations, especially tough ones, show us what we are made of.

fight or flightHave you ever heard of fight or flight? I had that bad. I would either stand strong and fight or run away. I would leave relationships when they were too hard, or a job. That is a natural response to a perceived harmful event, attack or threat to survival. It could be something mentally or physically, but you may want to run away from it to not deal with it. Or you  may stay and fight through it. Fight or flight is how we deal with stress. Perspective will help in this instance as well

Through my trials I’ve learned endurance. I am actually living out Philippians 4: 11,12. I have learned to be content in all situations. Consequently, I know what it’s like to have plenty and not so much. I don’t put that on the enemy either. I know that the Lord is making, shaping and molding me. I am a willing servant, and have the understanding that in the making process things get chopped off. In the fire it burns sometimes, but we come out pure as gold.

God provides ALL of my needs.

Brief Testimony

Over the last 2 years, our finances went from 2 incomes to 1. Needless to say, that is a huge change when it happens right after purchasing your first home, with 2 car notes, insurance, children, and all the daily expenses that come with living. We were used to plenty. We ate out regularly, socialized and attended movies and what not. We did allot that required money. I paid for whatever my children wanted to do, because I worked a lot and although I was gone to work, they had the funds to do what they needed. (Later I came to understand that they needed me, more than the money)

What am I saying? I am saying that I had a choice. God said to leave my salon while I was going through cancer. He said that He had something better for me and that He wanted me to merge into who I was. That it was time for me to be in ministry. This is part of my ministry–teaching through writing and speaking on my weekly broadcast. I could have chosen to obey or disobey, as my free will permitted.

What I found was that Jesus was no longer my first love, but making money, keeping up my lifestyle, and being able to buy what I wanted was. I didn’t know it at the time, until He allowed me to be sat down. My perspective had to change, and it has.Glory to God! God has been taking care of me, and my family. What do your actions say about your perspective? Think about it. What situation do you find yourself in currently? How do you view it?

Renewed Mind

Now, I understand that everyone does not have that perspective, but I am encouraging you to adapt it. I am pleading with you to believe the report of the Lord who promises to never leave nor forsake you. He says that we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ and no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper. Do you believe that? Not understand it in theory, but BELIEVE it?  Do you have confidence it it’s truth even without the absolute proof of seeing it. That’s faith. True faith. You don’t know cause you don’t SEE it, but you TRUST and absolutely BELIEVE because God says so. You believe HE is so and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Faith is the substance of things hoped for yet not seen. This will keep you. Faith will keep you in a peaceful place. A place where you wait on the Lord and be of good courage. Knowing that others are suffering afflictions as well will keep you. Sharing testimonies and fellowshipping with your brothers and sisters will keep you.

Our present suffering does not compare to the joy that awaits us. Let’s keep the main thing (Jesus) the main thing. The enemy wants us in bondage. He wants us in the bondage of fear. Fear of losing what we have, fear of death, fear of perception, so much fear. He wants us to walk by sight and not faith. He wants us to be all in our emotions and our flesh. It takes intentionality and a changed mindset to walk out our faith in a courageous way. It take a renewed mind to disconnect from what the masses are doing. You can live and enjoy your life, but understand that God and His kingdom must be your portion. It must be your focus. God promises to work everything else out for you if you seek His Kingdom and it’s righteousness because one things for sure, He knows what you stand in need of. (Matthew 6:33,34)

Endurance of Trials

IMG_0467Cancer taught me that my total dependency is on God. I couldn’t save my life, nor could money. Only God can do that. There are millionaires that die from cancer even after trying all types of treatments. My vehicles, home, and whatever else couldn’t save me. Understand that our jobs can’t save us. Most of us are a paycheck away from homelessness. Do you know that? What if the banks closed and you didn’t have access to your money? What if there was a blackout? Do you see what I’m saying? Or a natural disaster where you must evacuate. WHO do you depend on? Don’t wait until disaster to call on God for help. You need to have Him now! And have Him in the proper prospective. Choose to follow Him today!

Losing my mom suddenly was super tough for me to go through. I learned that I could do nothing to change that; however, the Lord let His Spirit fall upon me and gave me peace. My dad was dying from cancer as we both were battling and all of that hurt like you cannot believe and still hurts today because I miss them so much. I then lost my beautiful young cousin suddenly from Lupus complications. They are all resting and I am still here going through. Death of loved ones hurt, yet I still choose to adopt the viewpoint of: Things change–It will be ok. I never thought it would be ok suffering that type of pain, but time heals. It makes things more bearable. Focusing on the Lord, living for Him, helping others and getting out of my own head, makes it better. Understanding that my life woes are not everything. Sometimes we need to get out of our box, and look around. There are many that have less, and are happier. Why? Perspective.

The End of the Matter

In conclusion, My perspective changed through the loss of both my parents, battling stage 3 breast cancer and a huge change in my financial status. I can’t add one cubit to my life! Not even one. God is my source for everything. The constant has always been God. He does not and has not changed in any way. I’ve grown to love Him so much more. I know Him and He knows me. God knows my name, and it is written in the Lambs book of life. I understand that He chose me for such a time as this, and regardless of any situation I look to the Hills where my help comes from.

Sadly, this world is in labor pains, and as a people we are all experiencing some form of trial and tribulation in our life, whether we are directly or indirectly connected to it. We are in the end times, and the birth pains are progressive. Things will not get better until Jesus comes. Man CANNOT save us or make life better, no matter what they say. Peace and security is an illusion and delusion, and once it’s said (and it will be said) (1 Thessalonians 5:3) then sudden destruction will come upon the Earth as we have never seen. That is a prophecy. Trust in God!  Jesus is the way, truth and life. (John 14:6) I am excited for His return, yet sad for all that is occurring in the world. But these things must take place.

Finally, I encourage you to ponder this question: What’s your perspective on life?

The secret to life is Perspective.
