10 ways to handle offense

How many people can relate to this statement? “I’m not going back to church.” or “Only hypocrites in church.” Many people have in the past or are currently experiencing church hurt. In the world right now, there are people speaking of it everywhere. Twitter even had a hashtag trending on #Churchhurt. There are celebrities discussing this topic.

Everyone, at one point or another, deal with offense, because it happens daily.  We can’t hide from it, and can only control our reaction and response to it. (Photo by Stephane YAICH on Unsplash)
But, what I want you to recognize is the testing that comes along daily in your life. How you handle offense is a test. Don’t walk around “in your feelings” hindering your progress in life. The devil will attack you in that area, and create opportunities for offense.
Likewise, God will use those same opportunities for you to rise above the offense. Pay attention. Everyone isn’t against you. Some things have nothing to do with you. In fact, some people internalize everything.
How do I know this? I have first hand knowledge. I was taking everything personally. It would cause many issues in my marriage and in my mind. I couldn’t hear criticism from my husband and would listen to respond instead of to understand.  I would interrupt often in defense of myself. The Lord, through my different experiences, matured me in this area. Sometimes it still rears its ugly head, but I see it, and handle it. It no longer handles me. Glory to God!

Dealing with Offense

Have you had friends or family members that you extend yourself to but it isn’t reciprocated? Or people use you because you are kind? I have, and it’s easy to get offended in those instances. But actually it’s better to take inventory of yourself. Are you too accessible, and say “Yes” too much for fear of offending? Pay attention to how you move. You may be getting offended by something that you are allowing. They may actually be oblivious to it.
Have you ever cringed in your seat, hearing the Pastor say something that you think is about you? And could very well be about you. How do you handle that? Do you get angry? Offended? The spirit of offense will have his way all over you and most will let him. Offense will block you from receiving the message from the Pastor. He/She may not have been trying to offend you, but that is the way most will take it. Offense will blind, hinder and bind you up. It will dictate your thoughts, moves, and emotions. Don’t let it. Be free!
We use our social media as a venting platform many times. I read reactions to offense on social media. For example, we react to events that happen to us before first thinking and calming down. We post hastily and may later have regrets, because we are reacting in the moment. I wrote a post about this here. God sees everything. No one is immune from His correction.
Share your story to edify the body; don’t blast to vent. We don’t want to tear people down. Especially those in the faith. Don’t sow discord. We do reap what we sow.

Brief Experience

I have heard countless stories about church hurt and offense. Haven’t you? We’ve all experienced offense. Let me share one with you.
A sister spoke to me in a disrespectful way in front of others at church. It offended me. I did ask to speak privately with her and told her how I didn’t like the way she spoke to me. (Matthew 18:15) We are both grown, even though she was older than I was, it was no excuse. There is a way to get your point across without being mean and disrespectful. She apologized but how many know, it didn’t leave me right away? I’d seen her do that to others. I avoided her while at church, but it seemed as if everywhere I looked she was there. I said, “Lord, you have a sense of humor.
You see, He was stretching me. Hiding and avoidance is not a mature way to handle things. Offense has no place in the believer. I let it go. This isn’t about the sister. This is about me and how I handled that situation. There is always a situation. What God showed me is that like He is working on me, He was working on her. We are all flawed. I am to have compassion, and pray for them. Once I started doing that things changed in my life. It isn’t easy to pray for people who hurt you, but God says for us to do just that in His Word. (Luke 6:27-29) I asked Him to let me see people as He sees them. I forgave and I forgive throughout the day. I hope others do the same for me. No one wants their prayers hindered. (Matthew 5:23)

My outlook changed

In these situations and countless others, I remind myself how we are all one body, and the Lord isn’t finished with us. I want you to remember this also. I am able to hear criticism, and handle disagreements. When things fall apart, many times, it’s to come together again. In auxiliaries, remember that you are working unto the Lord. Actually, keep that outlook even in your secular job. It will keep you together.
The Lord was teaching me something. Is He likewise teaching you? He is always toughening up my skin for the journey ahead. I get it. I must also walk in meekness and gentleness, which are fruits of the Spirit. This is a daily thing. He is concerned with my heart condition and yours. He works on us from the inside out–working on our character.

What does God want?

What is He calling for you and I to do in any given situation? Do you know?
Here is an example of what I say to myself: I will not be offended. I am casting every thought down that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and will think on things that are positive. I’m going to pursue peace, regardless of what the other person is doing.” I talk myself off the ledge, so to speak. I can’t let my thoughts and mind do whatever. I can’t trust it. Nor can I trust my emotions. God wants us to walk and follow after His son Jesus Christ, and walk in love, forgiveness, and faith! He wants us to give a “God” response and not a carnal one.
So, I’ve learned that I can step away from a situation to not hinder a relationship. I’ve also learned to forgive even when I’m hurt and don’t understand, for the sake of relationship. See this is when knowledge and wisdom come into play.
You may have knowledge of the scripture, “how many times to forgive my brother”, but the wisdom is in the application of the scripture. (Matthew 18:21-22) (Matthew 5:38-40) No, it doesn’t feel good going through that, but the refining process is priceless.
[bctt tweet=”You elevate in God with each wise move and each area of obedience.” username=”AuthorTTucker”]
Our Lord Jesus Christ said for us to love our Heavenly Father with all our heart, and second to love our neighbor. He also said to do good to those in the faith. Relationships are very important to God. He loves people–not denominations.

Tips and suggestions

We have a job to do out here and it’s to plant and water. The Lord will cause the increase. We are to make disciples.
We limit God by our unforgiveness, even in those matters. Talk with yourself and cast those thoughts down. What about when people let you down? Forgive them and pray for them. You let people down too, you know?
God is stretching us in those uncomfortable moments. How can you be prepared for a greater level, if you can’t handle the small stuff?
If you are in ministry and desiring more, you must learn how to handle a small group. The Lord says if we are faithful in the small things, we will be faithful in large ones. (Luke 16:10) People are not easy, yet the Lord has grace for us. We must extend grace one to another. Love is the Word of the day. Everyday. I have 2 books that will help you immensely in this area. Click here for more info.

Here are 10 suggestions that I have for you:

1. If it isn’t edifying, don’t say it.
2. After an offense don’t go immediately to facebook and post, pause ten minutes. After that, you won’t even want to post it.
3. Think before you speak.
4. Pray and ask God for help. Ask Him in sincerity and He will respond.
5. Be mindful of the words you speak. Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
6. Forgive the offense and let the Lord handle the situation. He cares about everything that has to do with you. You’re His child.
7. Recognise that there are evil spirits looking for an opening to oppress you daily and set up strongholds. Offense is an opening.
8. Don’t focus on feelings. Being too emotional will hurt you everytime. Think. Use your brain. The heart is deceitful. Be wise.
9. Pray for the person who offended you. It’s hard to stay mad at someone that you pray for.
10. Make a decision. Be intentional. You are in control of your actions. Decide not to be offended
Finally, what controls you? Flesh or Spirit? Spirit has you deny yourself. Flesh indulges your impulses and emotions. Flesh cares for self. Spirit for others. Flesh wants revenge. Spirits understands that vengeance belongs to the Lord, and He will repay. Flesh wants instant gratification. Spirit understands to wait on the Lord and be of good courage. Flesh wants to speak on every offense. Spirit rebukes spirit and prays.  The enemy is a liar. Never forget that. Be careful of making permanent decisions on a temporary circumstance.
Stay rooted in what God wants. Offense takes your eyes off of God and puts them on yourself. Keep God and His purpose in front of you.
Pray this prayer: Father God. I thank you, and appreciate all that you do for me. I thank you for your reminders, and being long suffering towards me.  Thank you for your Grace and Mercy. Father, in the name of Jesus I ask for forgiveness in any way that I’ve fallen short in thought or deed. Father create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. I want to walk in your ways Father. Forgive me as I forgive those who hurt me. I will not hold on to offense. From this day forward I will be mindful of my thoughts towards others. I will be mindful of my words towards others. I pray that you strengthen me in my spirit. Help me in my daily walk Father, as I want to do your will. Less of me and more of you. Bring to my remembrance anything that I need to repent of and I will do so. I thank you Father for hearing my prayer and hearing my heart. In Jesus name. Amen.
What are your experiences with offense and forgiveness in church or just in everyday life? Lets talk.

How will you make it?

We all have goals right? Well you should have goals both naturally and spiritually. Goals for your education, career, family, social life, ministry, etc. Goals are exciting. Short term and long term. The process of writing down possibilities – brainstorming on what could be, using your imagination to see beyond what is happening at the present time.

How do you get from here to there? How will you make it?

Physical Therapy

I was so inspired in Physical Therapy this past Friday. There was a quickening in my spirit. I was laying on my heating pad after my session and asked my therapist to grab my phone because I needed to write. The processes that I was going through to achieve my goals in physical therapy made me think of what we go through to achieve goals in general, but especially spiritually. It can be painful. We set the goal, yet faced with the plans, procedures, trials and tribulations to achieve that goal, we may shrink back.

Pain initiates a fight or flight response. You’re either going to go for it or you’re going to stop and give up. I didn’t know the process. I only knew the goal. And as I have continued, more exercises are being added to test me. This scripture comes to mind: Man makes the plan yet God determines His steps.

[bctt tweet=”We don’t know the path, even if we know the goal. (Proverbs 16:9)” username=”AuthorTTucker”]

Our walk with God is like that. There are levels that we want to get to. Levels He wants us to come to. Yet we have a part to play in achieving our goals, both naturally and spiritually. For example, naturally. I am in physical therapy and I have a goal of increased mobility, range of motion and no pain in my right arm, side and back. How can I achieve that? Well, it takes a lot of stretching of those muscles. Some that are so intricately connected that it takes going in a direction that seems to be the wrong way or not to make sense.
In actuality, my therapist is the professional. She knows what she is doing and the reason I am going that way to do that particular stretch, and in the end it works out for my good. (Romans 8:28-29)

It takes consistency and commitment, following the instructions given and pacing myself to achieve my goals in physical therapy.

I thought my issue was only my shoulder blade, but my therapist, in her expertise, wanted me to try a certain stretch that initially in my mind had nothing to do with my shoulder blade. Yet when she went there, to my surprise, pain shot through me. It was on the side that I thought was ok. It wasn’t visible, nor did it hurt. I didn’t realize I had adjusted my walk, and movements to overcompensate what I was missing. I adjusted myself instead of addressing the issue. She went to the source, and although it didn’t seem connected to the visible part of my pain, it was.
Glory to God! This made me instantly think on how God allows our trials to show us the hidden things, deeply rooted in us. Things He is trying to refine and also remove to get us to that next level in Him.
We have deep rooted issues and traits that may not be beneficial to our progress. They may hinder our goal, yet God knows and He will work those deep rooted things out of us. It is painful and we may kick and scream and say we don’t need that. Our problem isn’t that, it’s this. But He is our Creator. He knows all things and we can trust Him.

Stay Focused

Our muscles have memory, and if I don’t stretch because it’s uncomfortable, I will not have good success in that area, and won’t achieve my goals. My muscle will “remember” not to stretch.  I do what I can, and my therapist helps me also. I stretch to the point where I feel a little pain, but mostly a great stretch. She doesn’t want me hurt. Likewise, God isn’t trying to hurt us. He is trying to heal us, and walk us into our purpose. It takes some stretching and we may get to the point of pain, but if it’s too much, He makes a way out for us.  He knows what we can handle in this life. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Now with the muscle memory, as I keep doing my exercises at home and at the center, I am getting healthier, feeling less pain and seeing results. However, I can’t just rely on what she is doing while I am at physical therapy. I have to do the exercises at home as well to see full results. If not, everytime I return I am back where I started or with very little progress.

It’s like going to church. It isn’t enough to sustain you. Church is only a few hours a week. Compare that to how many hours we actually have in a week and you will see the deficit. Study, meditate, pray and put into action all that you learn at church in your daily life. You hear the Word but you must apply it, and stretch yourself. God gives us all that we need. We ask for more of Jesus, but we have Him. He gave us His Holy Spirit. What more do we need? I think many Christians have the wrong view of God, but that’s a blog post for another day.

Apply the Word to your life.  The Word teaches us how to live, pray, fast, show love, what not to do, etc. He has given us instructions and also gifts in men. Eachother. We have Preachers, Teachers, Evangelists, Apostles, and Prophets for the edifying of the body. Jesus is also with us- always. Be encouraged.
We need to learn to go through the trials to come out refined. Don’t give up when things are hard. They will be hard. Some days will be very difficult, but stay the course. For example, to lose weight, you must eat a healthy diet and exercise. That is hard for many of us. Especially when you are starting out, but if you don’t stay the course, you won’t get that body you’re desiring. Also, to achieve my goals in physical therapy, it’s hard and sometimes painful, but as I keep going and following instructions, I will achieve them. If I give up because its hard, I won’t get anywhere, and can even get worse. Not moving my muscles because of pain will keep them locked in a position that will continue to decrease my mobility and then I would be going backwards. We may encounter a painful situation or trial with the Lord and it can shake our faith or make us lose trust in Him.

Stay on the Potter’s wheel

Don’t go backwards in your walk. Life throws curveballs at us. That won’t stop. But we have a helper in God who is there helping us to stretch. He wants us to reach our full potential. He also sends us Angels, and people that He works through to assist us with achieving our goals. We don’t have to go at it alone. We do; however, have to understand that we play a part in our success. Whatever goal that may be. It isn’t happening without us. It won’t miraculously happen either. Do the work! Give God something to bless. He says that He will bless the work of your hands. (Deuteronomy 28:12) You can have goals written down all day, or even on your mind, but if there is no execution, there will be no fulfillment.
Love you guys and thanks for reading. I pray it blesses you.

What in the world is going on?

Have you guys read my post entitled, “The new Jesus?”

Well, today I ran across this video on YouTube and it has some similar points that I was making plus so much more.

We must be careful and test the spirits…

Check this video out.

I’m sharing from my cellphone, so no fancy pictures and whatnot. Just straight to the point.

Comment your thoughts below.

Let’s talk.

The New Jesus

The New Jesus

The new Jesus versus the Jesus of the Bible.

The Way

Many don’t believe that Jesus is the only way.  I believe He is the way. The only way. There is a new Jesus being preached and talked about in the world and this is a cry of alarm. This is a warning to Christians to beware. Make sure you are following the Jesus of the bible. Even Paul admonished the Galatians and Christians at Corinth for turning away to a new gospel – a new Jesus.  {Photo by Lori M. Sousa on Unsplash}

This isn’t new to 2018. It was even going on in AD 27 when Jesus was teaching and preaching. When Jesus came He was not readily accepted by the religious leaders in His day. Many of the people followed Him and many did not.  He taught that He was the Way to the Father. He called 12 ordinary men to follow Him. He taught them the ways of the Father, and said if they had seen Him then they had seen the Father also. (John 14:6| John 14:7-9) He promised that He would be raised after His crucification. He also promised to send them the Holy Spirit once He was raised.

Jesus taught that He came to fulfill the law and prophets. (Matthew 5:17) He was the fulfillment of Isaiah 61: 1-3. (Luke 4:14-30) {Among other Old Testament Prophecies}

Jesus was the promised seed – the promised Messiah that was spoken of in the Torah or Old Testament. (Genesis 3:15) Sin was brought into the world through Adam and we were reconciled from sin through Jesus. (Colossians 1:20| 2 Corinthians 5:18| Romans 5:12| 1 Corinthians 15: 21-22) Jesus didn’t look how they would expect and many rejected Him because of that. That is still true today. He doesn’t show up as you expect and you may reject Him. I didn’t always know who He was. I followed a different Jesus.

The Confusion

People look for teaching that fit their narrative. They look to have their ears tickled, so to speak. (2 Timothy 4:3) I know that feeling all too well. This new Jesus being preached makes it easy for people to stay in their sin. They look for a god (little g) of their own understanding, instead of the God (big G) of the bible. {Photo by Daniele Levis Pelusi on Unsplash}

There is a coexist movement going on. There is a mixing of faiths. There are people taking what they like from different faiths and creating something new. People want God. They are seeking, but many want a different God than the one of the Bible.

There is a compromised form of Christianity that is very popular right now. The doctrine of love, and inclusiveness. However, Jesus didn’t say that He came to bring peace, but a sword. Truth divides – it hurts, and following Jesus can cause division. (Matthew 10:34-36) You must make a decision when faced with truth. Once born again, you are a new creature. Old things have passed away, and you are new. (2 Corinthians 5:7) Will you make mistakes? Sure. I did and still do. But press on! Pray and ask for forgiveness! Keep moving forward.

There is so much confusion. It hurts my heart, and I pray. I pray for us as a people on a regular basis. Many are falling away, and I know that it is prophesied to happen, but watching it is painful. (2 Thessalonians 2:3| Matthew 24:10-12) We are not gods. We have 1 God. We are to worship Him. We need to be kingdom minded, and not so caught up in the world.  (Matthew 6: 19-24)  People are making a mockery of Jesus and many are in agreement with it, all in the name of love and the fear of offending others. Family lets keep watch. Check ourselves to make sure that we are in the faith.

True love tells the truth to protect someone, not let them fall off a clip if you see that they are heading over. You try to help them – try to stop them. Warning is showing love. God is love and we are to love one another. That doesn’t mean stand silently while your brothers and sisters are in some mess. Pray for them and help them if you are able. However, if your message is not received, don’t debate, or be angry – leave it alone. (Luke 9:5 | Matthew 10:14-15)

The New Jesus

Some people call Jesus a prophet only, or a spiritual guru. He is called a great teacher, a teacher of enlightenment, among other things. He is rarely called the Son of God in many circles, and even less is He said to have come in the flesh. (1 John 4: 1- 6) There is a new age Jesus being preached to the masses.  A new age Christ, and unfortunately many are following this Jesus. He does not teach sin(It does not exist in this teaching) or repentance but love and acceptance with no changes whatsoever. Sounds good, but it’s not the Jesus of the Bible. Many people refer to Him only as, “The Christ.” They speak of “Christ consciousness.” which is a state of consciousness or realization that we can reach our true divinity as Christ did as He was our model. This is being taught.

They don’t look at Him as our Savior. Many teach that we ourselves are god. That Jesus only attained his level of enlightenment through rituals and spiritual practices like the occult.  They compare him to Buddha and other “Masters.” This is not the Jesus of the bible. This teaching says that the bible is not the Word of God. It does not esteem the bible at all. It is just a book to many, and uninspired. I know Christians who are mixing new age theology with Scripture.

But God’s truth stands. His Word is alive and powerful. (Hebrews 4:12) People say the bible isn’t relevant for today, and that it’s antiquated. It’s not. (2 Timothy 3:16) There are influential people who follow this teaching, and others follow them. (Galatians 1:7-9 | 2 Corinthians 11:3-4) I can’t get with this. Many are with it though. I guess they are saying the same thing about what I believe, They can’t get with the Jesus of the bible.

“Who do people say that I am?,” Jesus asked His disciples. (Mark  8: 27-29 | Matthew 16: 613-17)

The Truth

Jesus came to the earth. He lived here without sin, even though He faced the same temptations we do. He told us what me must do to be saved. He did many miracles and taught us to repent. He healed and told people to sin no more. Sin brings death. Our troubles in the world are from sin. Sin is the root cause of it all. That is why we need Jesus. He taught about forgiveness of sin. This was good news! He said for us to repent many times! (Luke 24: 46-47) He wanted us to quit practicing and living a life of sin. Jesus spoke of punishment, and also salvation. He spoke of hell, and what happens when He returns to judge the world. God loves us, and desires us to be saved. (John 3:16-17) I am thankful that He didn’t give up on us a long time ago. I am grateful that He is long suffering and full of Mercy. Jesus died for us. He died so that we could live! Praise God!

Jesus taught that we will recognize people by their fruit. That is an indicator of where someone was. What was their lifestyle like? How do they treat others? (Matthew 7: 15-23)  He also said that we must repent and be born again. When you are born again, you see everything through new eyes. And you definitely see that you are in the world, but not of the world. This doesn’t happen immediately.

Jesus said that it was unwise to hear his Words and not act. We are foolish to hear the Word of God and go our own way. (Matthew 7:24-27) Jesus taught us to have faith. We can do so much with even a mustard seed of faith in Him. He is so faithful. He healed people of physical and spiritual ailments. He delivered people from oppression and wrong teaching. He challenged traditions of men and the Pharisees and Sadducees when faced with the truth of the gospel – the good news.

He bridged the gap between us and the Father that sin separated. Jesus taught there is a cost to following him. He says that we are to take up our cross daily. Does that sound like an easy, trial free life? Why do we think that we won’t deal with anything, but he dealt with everything.

I was surprised at all the things I’ve dealt with since following Jesus, but He has shown Himself to be faithful. {Photo by Aaron Burden on Unsplash}

Why do you call me Lord?

Jesus said at Luke 6: 46, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? Read the entire chapter. Jesus was very bold in His teachings. No one talked like He did. Even today, in our time, people who preach the true gospel of the bible is considered radical, and out of date with the culture. People say things like, “Times are different.” They may even say that someone is doing too much or not being loving, by being honest.

But Jesus is the same. Our Heavenly Father is the same. Yesterday, today and forever.

We are not to change the gospel to go with society’s current trends. The world is in the hand of the wicked one, so any true teaching and preaching of Jesus is mocked and twisted in the world. You must learn to rightfully divide the Word. Take the meat and spit out the bones. Be discerning and study to show yourself approved. You don’t want to fall for the okey doke as I call it. And you will not be the majority. You will be different and peculiar, understand that. Be ok with that.

The World

What is the world teaching you about Jesus? Confusion, that’s what. You have tv shows, and movies that twist the truth.  They downplay Jesus and lift up Lucifer. Jesus is mocked in the world.  This is why we have to be watchful. The devil is slick. He is out here seeking whom to devour. He is ok when you are in agreement with him. It is when you are not, and following God forreal, that he comes your way. Division is a major way that the enemy keeps up confusion. We are divided with race, culture, doctrines, female God, goddess worship, flat earth, round earth, Hebrew Israelites etc. This is within world and the body of believers.

Many are so disconnected from the real God, that they are following this new Jesus. They are so indoctrinated to believe that everything goes and you are being hateful if you don’t accept everything and what everyone does. God does love people but He hates sin. I can love you, but not be in agreement with your lifestyle. One amazing thing about God is that He has a heart for His people. He has grace for us. You can turn it around. Even a wrong belief system. I did. I was a Jehovah’s Witness most of my life, and I thought Jesus was actually Michael the Archangel. Wrong teaching, but Jesus had mercy on me, and He took me in and showed me who He really was. I had a sincere heart searching for Him. Just as many others do. I’ve learned that He will make Himself known to people when they seek Him truly. Even if they are unknowingly believing a lie. (Speaking from my experience)

Everyone sins. Yes, we all fall short but, there is a difference in messing up and daily living a sinful life intentionally, without repentance. The more the Lord reveals and gives understanding, the more you see things for what they are. But to live for God cost something. It cost giving up your old life to a new one in Him. It cost giving up your way for His way. It cost you. Many don’t want to pay that price, so they walk the line or they just pretend altogether. I remember walking the line. At that time, the cost was too high for me to pay.

A little leaven ruins the whole loaf. Understand that there is truth mixed in with the lies. Read, study, meditate, pray and sit in the presence of God.

The Great Commission

In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus gave His disciples a great commission. Commission means a charge or an order. He charged them to go make disciples. He says and I quote from the ESV version, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

He says that we are to teach what we learn to others.

God forgives. He has grace and mercy for us. Praise God because we need this. We need to remember who we are, who He is and what He did for us. We need to be aware of the enemy and his tactics. you don’t want to be caught up. Resist the devil and he will flee. (James 4:7)

In Conclusion

The enemy came to kill, steal and destroy, but Jesus came so that we may have life and that more abundantly! There is a God of the bible, Jehovah. There is an only begotten son, Jesus. Jesus was sent here to save us from sin – to redeem us. He bore all sins at the cross. He saved us! But we must believe in Him. I understand that there are many religions in the world. I also know that everyone is not going to follow Jesus. I see this as a concern in the Christian community, because some of us aren’t following Him either.  I have a strong desire for everyone to be on the same page in unity with God. I care deeply about that. I care about the walk of my brothers and sisters. I pray so much for the body of believers. I love you all. I know what the world is about and I know that the enemy is real. I know there is so much deception in the world. My eyes see these things, and many of you may see it too.

I sound a cry of alarm in my writings. This is the assignment that the Lord gave me. I realize that I have to be bold. I also know that everyone won’t receive this. But as the Lord said when He gave me my book, “It’s for who it’s for.” We all must have some boldness when speaking about Jesus. We are not the majority. There is a narrow road and few are finding it, the Word says.

I can’t unsee. I can’t unknow. You understand? He’s done too much in my life. None of us are perfect, but lets stay willingly on the Potters wheel. Following God and not the devil. My focus has always been on the body of believers to warn and to encourage. We are in the end times. This is serious. If you have been following unknowingly or knowingly, ask God for forgiveness, and ask Him to show you who He really is. Get in your Word, and a bible believing church. Start walking this thing out for real! Living for Him. He loves you! Ask Him to send you help. He will.

Consequently, we must allow God to mold us. He will make our mind over, and change our heart to a heart after His. I understand that it is a process. It is one that won’t end until Jesus returns. (Philippians 1:6) We can’t walk in fear of what the world says or lukewarm Christians. Jesus was bold. He turned the money changers table over in the synagogue. He called people out on their stuff. We can do this but in love. Always in love. I have a regular prayer of asking for boldness. Boldness to share the good news of the Jesus, to correct in love and to speak what God tells me to speak.

Thank you all for reading. I pray that you seek after God with all your heart. Jesus said if He be lifted up, He’d draw all men to Him. He has been lifted up.

Love y’all

Be blessed

The Lie We Tell Ourselves

The Lie

Everyone lies in one way or another. Small lie, big lie, white lie, red lie ( I just threw that one in there) When speaking on lies, people say things like, “It was just a small white lie” or “It wasn’t that big of a deal. You know it’s true.

When we say we don’t lie, we are in fact lying.

We can definitely be someone who keeps it real, and on the up and up for the most part. Yet even when trying to protect someone, we may tell them a different truth to not hurt their feelings.  We may lie and tell our children that there is a Santa Clause and Tooth Fairy. Innocent right? Sure, but it isn’t true. We may lie when scared as Sarai was when God called her out on her lie. He asked why did she laugh when He said that she would have a child, and she said that she didn’t laugh. She absolutely laughed. (Genesis 18: 9-15) So she lied.

We lie out of ignorance. We may believe something, but may not know all the facts, so we answer. Like Peter, when he said he would never disown Jesus. Jesus told him that he would and Peter said that he never would. (Matthew 26: 31-35) And of course, he did. In his defense, he truly felt that he wouldn’t. Yet Peter lied all 3 times when asked if he knew Jesus, and he was a disciple! He walked with Jesus. Deep.

Who wants to be called a liar? Not me. That word hurts. As a matter of fact, when called a liar, your immediate response is, “I’m not a liar!”

Children lie often. They are fearful of consequences.

People also lie by omission. I use to lie often by omission. Also, directly if you asked about my business and I didn’t think it was your business.

These aren’t the lies I’m talking about when I say, “The Lie we tell ourselves.”

We need Jesus. Clearly right? We need the Holy Spirit to help us.

Lies are comfortable.

To the Believers

The lie that I’m speaking of is that we don’t have to be sanctified to God. That’s a lie we tell ourselves. That is a lie from the pits of hell! Truly. We tell ourselves that we can live however we want. We are still saved by grace and loved by God. Yes we are, but where are you on your journey with God? How’s your mindset? How’s your peace? Your joy? Your abundant living? How is everything going? Because that comfortable lie will have you far removed from God. That comfortable lie will have you living like the people of the world, and saying “God knows my heart,” but making no changes whatsoever. [bctt tweet=”Yes, you are saved by grace. And I’m talking to my saved people right now, but you can’t take God for granted.” username=”AuthorTTucker”]

You do know that God says that you must die to sin? Right? Read Romans 6.

Sin will be your master. You may think you can control it but it will control you.

I remember thinking I could smoke my weed because I had a legal card and I had rules for myself. I wouldn’t smoke on bible study days or Sundays. How many know I broke those rules? Sin had become my master and I would try to reason with it. That stronghold was super strong on me. I remember getting up like 6 am one Sunday and literally fought back and forth with myself because I wanted to smoke. Wake and bake as it’s called. Yea, I wanted that. That particular Sunday, church was starting in a few hours, and I couldn’t shake the urge to smoke. It was so strong. I was fighting – battling within myself. I knew it was wrong but my flesh won that fight that morning. “Tara what are you doing?” I would ask myself, but I wasn’t yet strong in Spirit, and there I was drinking coffee and smoking a blunt. That thing had me. I was ashamed. I needed help but it was strong on me. People say weed isn’t addictive. It most certainly is! I went to church still and I cried out of shame, and cried to God, “Help me!!!”

One of the problems, was that I was reasoning with myself that it was ok because I needed it medically. I know there are many amazing uses for the Hemp plant, but when you are smoking weed, you want to keep smoking weed, because it feels good. Then you are smoking when there is no pain. (This is my story. I am not speaking on anyone but me) My medical card said I needed the weed, so I said it was necessary. It was a lie really. I needed God. I needed to truly give myself to Him. He is a Healer. I needed to trust Him with my cares and concerns. My issue at that time was not physical as so much as mental and emotional and the weed kept me calm.

That’s just one lie. I would lie about things to keep up appearances. Babiieeee that is exhausting! Be yourself. Social Media will have you all messed up. So I write about freedom. I write about the freedom of walking in my identity in Christ and in truth. Lies are bondage. Truth is freedom! But freedom, this type of freedom, come with honesty.

Let God be God

How many know that God has a peace that far exceeds weed, alcohol or any drug? His peace surpasses all thoughts. The world can’t give you that peace. And the smoking is of the world.

Once that stronghold was removed, I went further in God. Hallelujah! I started to hate what he hated and love what he loved. There are levels and we are our own stumbling block. We can pray for something over and over and wonder why it won’t manifest. It could be sin that you are harboring in your life. It could be unforgiveness that you are holding in your heart. Our God is Holy. He doesn’t operate in sin. Many times our blessings are on the other side of our obedience.

God is moving and He loves to give good gifts to His children, but you can be limiting what He is willing to do for you. Think of a parent child relationship. He is our Father. He does discipline us. He also rewards us; however, He is not a genie in a bottle that you can just keep asking for things and make no changes in your life. What does He want from you? He wants your love, worship and obedience. He wants you to listen to Him because He created you and knows what is best for you. He wants you to follow Jesus as the ultimate example of how to live and treat people. He wants you to operate in the Spirit. Flow in your gifts and be a blessing to people. God is into people. The people business, not things, but if you put Him first, He will give you things. He knows the desires of your heart. Things are a perk. Favor is the best!

God does show mercy and we are grateful for that, because we all have fallen short. We can’t do anything apart from Him, but everything through Him, because He strengthens us to do so. (Philippians 4:13)

He created us. We are created beings. He is our CREATOR. He is the POTTER. We are the clay.

So let’s wrap this up: What do you think of the most? Things of God? or things of the world? Spiritual things? or Fleshly things? That is for you to answer to yourself. We must check ourselves to make sure we are still walking with God in truth. Let’s not lie to ourselves. If you belong to God you ARE NOT obligated to do what your flesh wants. The Holy Spirit within you will help you. But it won’t force you. This is where people get confused. You have to yield to the Spirit and be OBEDIENT to the Spirit. It is easy to say, “Well God let me.” and “He didn’t stop me so it must be ok.” or “God can take this away from me whenever he wants.”

Yes, He sure can but do you want it taken away? Is that your prayer? Are you working on being kind? Can you be quiet and not have the last word? Are you throwing packs of cigarettes away? Are you trying daily?  I use to throw my paraphernalia in the trash, and sometimes I would go get it out. I was trying. It had me, and at first I was ok with it, but later I wasn’t, when I realized that I was no longer in control of it. Addiction is a stronghold. It can be food, drugs, alcohol, sex, porn, etc. Are you addicted to anything? You don’t have to tell me. That’s a question for you. Bind the strongman. You are not powerless if you have the Holy Spirit inside of you. God says whatever we bind in Heaven will be bound on earth and whatever we loose in Heaven will be loosed in the earth. (Matthew 18:18)

Have you told yourself that it’s ok to act a certain way or do certain things because God knows your heart? Are you walking and living as a child of God? When people see you do they know by your lifestyle that you follow God? Or are you compromising? Are you riding the fence? Or being double minded? Don’t believe the lie. Jesus is the truth. Period. If you are for Him, walk in truth and be for Him. (1 John 1:9)   (Colossians 3:5) Satan is a liar! A sneaky conniving liar. He is so subtle with some of them too. You will start to question it like: “Well God didn’t really say this or that?…Or “This is just a principle and it’s not like a law or rule or anything.” I use to say how God made the herbs and it was good. I found a scripture to back it up. It was true, but I was misusing it to suit my way of thinking.  I was comfortable in my lie until it became uncomfortable to me. I answered the call to go higher in God. That meant dying to self. My self will. I had to decrease so that He could increase. Daily! (Matthew 16:24)

Let that be your prayer: “Lord let me decrease, so that you can increase in my life. Father in the name of Jesus I ask that you strengthen me. Lord remove anything that is not of you! Forgive me for ___________________________. I decree that from this moment forward, I will start fresh and new. Help me with my unbelief, and strengthen my faith in you. Rebuke the devourer for my sake. I want more of you Lord and less of me. Get me out of my own way.” in Jesus name, Amen.

It’s a process

Jesus said if we deny Him in front of people then He will deny us in front of His Father. (Matthew 10:33) We as God’s people have been set apart specifically for His use. And yes He does know our hearts, and He loves us. I am so thankful for His love and mercy. We are a new creation when we become saved. The old has passed away. (2 Corinthians 5:17) However, It is a process. You must continue to move forward. I can only speak what I know. I read my word, I pray and I have learned from my experiences and encounters with God.  I am thankful because as it says in Philippians 1:6, “And I am sure that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” God is not done with any of us.

I didn’t realize the stronghold that was upon me. I was busy in church. I was helpful to people outside of church. I loved God and people. I worked and things were productive there, but my household was in disarray. It wasn’t as peaceful as it should have been. Also, I smoked, drank, had anger outburst, and lacked patience and self-control. For who I was purporting to be, that should not have been the case.  Our Christian households should be together. Our marriages on point, the children being taught correctly. Discipleship starts in the home first. Not outside. I was believing the lie that said to me all was well because I was active in church. People lie in church to themselves all the time. They leave and go back to their life which does not mimic Sunday morning. Being able to walk this thing out forreal is amazing. I am excited. God is good!!

I was finally set free, and now I can truly say that I worship God in Spirit and in Truth.

I want you;likewise, to be free if you’re bound. If you are not where you want to be in God. If you feel that you aren’t progressing, look at your life. Examine yourself.

It’s just hair! Or is it?

Deeper Meaning

I premise this by saying, that to a spiritual person, all things are spiritual.

A spiritual person doesn’t just see a natural thing as natural, they look deeper into it. A spiritual person looks at a movie or tv program and come out with a deeper meaning than the obvious. This is just an example of how I look at things, and perhaps you can relate?

Your eyes are opened on a different level. I am not speaking of spiritistic practices, I am speaking of The Holy Spirits’s guidance. He speaks in many ways. One of the ways He has been speaking to me this past month is through my hair.

The Word says that the very hairs on our head are numbered. (Matthew 10:30) God knows us. He cares for us, even down to our hair. I didn’t think so initially, because that is a trivial matter right? It’s just hair! But is it?

Example for perspective

There are many different unorthodox ways that the Lord speaks to you. He doesn’t come the same way every time.  It may be through a dream, another person, the bible, etc. However, sometimes it’s through a donkey. Yeah, like a real donkey. (Numbers 22: 27-31) That story is actually pretty great, not only did the donkey speak, but the Angel of the Lord stood in it’s path to block Balaam. You should read the story. God will close doors and stop us right in our tracks. Hallelujah!

Sometimes things happen that we don’t perceive. As in the case of the donkey running, stopping, etc to deter Balaam from going further. Balaam didn’t know what was going on with his donkey so he beat him. He beat him 3 times before the Angel of the Lord permitted the donkey to speak. Miraculous, but God can do all things.

After the Angel revealed himself and spoke to Balaam, Balaam’s words were, “I have sinned. I didn’t realize you were standing in the road to block my way. I will return home if you are against my going.” (italics mine) That’s deep on so many levels.

He also spoke to Moses through a burning bush. (Exodus 3) That again, was miraculous and amazing considering the bush was burning yet never burned up.

Now granted, my hair incident is not nearly as dramatic as these examples, but valid nevertheless.

Breaking it down

The Lord uses many ways to get our attention as we saw in the case of Balaam and the donkey. Many times we don’t realize it right away. We must get the message several times and then a light bulb goes off.

Now, with all that being said, let me explain my light bulb moment to you guys. If you have eyes to see you will understand. If you don’t, I pray that you do.

So for a few weeks I had been feeling restless and a bit disgruntled with my hair. It had been growing nice in it’s post-chemotherapy stage. I love the texture and my original thickness returned. However, it was in this “In-between” stage that is a frustrating stage. I would put leave-in conditioner to wave it, and try to style it, yet that didn’t last, nor was I satisfied with the styles.

Let me back up a month. My spiritual mom told me that I should wear my own hair. She did say to get a cut or trim if I needed it, but the Lord was calling for me to not put anything in my hair. I didn’t understand, because it’s just hair right? Unfortunately, I didn’t listen. So fast forward, and I bought 2 wigs within a week of each other, braids the next week and faux locs the following one after that.

Why all the hair?

Well, I will tell you. The first wig was beautiful. It was in the afternoon when I purchased it. I put it on and walked around the house sashaying. LOL

The next day that beautiful wavy blonde wig was a clumpy mess. Ok a few days after I bought another curly wig. It was beautiful. It was shorter. I wore it a few days longer, yet it also started to look a hot mess. Not clumpy, but something wasn’t right and I took it off.

So I talked to my husband and convinced him that if I got braids all would be well. He looked doubtfully at me. I’m sure he was thinking that I should just leave my hair alone. I know my kids were very verbal to that affect. Yet he said, “If that’s what you want.” So individual beautiful braids by my cousin Eesha followed. I had them for almost 2 weeks. The braids were coming out in certain areas of my head, and I would re-braid them, until I just took them out. She did a great job, but my hair is soft and short.

Ok I had another bright idea! I would get my hair cut on the sides and get faux locs. Ok short testimony abut the faux locs: I had been looking at Pinterest and Instagram at pictures of locs so much that I couldn’t wait to get them. I called my friend who does them and she offered me a discount price. I told her to give me a little time to get the money together. The very next day, my spiritual mom texted me saying her daughter wanted to do my faux locs for free. I was like, ‘Run that by me again?” That was all God, and all amazing. Right?

So I got the locs, and had an amazing conversation in the process. Throughout the week, my locs started coming out. I was able to replace like 8 of them and then my sister in Christ replaced some that were in the back. One came out when I pulled up in the parking lot of church. I put it in the glove department and was very self conscious about them falling out in public. I was so careful with how I moved and if I hugged someone. Totally unlike me. Then I woke up with one missing out the front. Those were tight and secure in the front where my hair was longer, so for a moment I was confused.

God was speaking

I was getting the, “Take all of this mess out of your hair” message. Seriously! When I woke up and saw the one directly in the front missing, I got it completely. It was a total light bulb experience, and I was instantly reminded of what my spiritual mom had said. I said, “Ok Lord. I’m listening.”

It was then that I removed it all, and when I tell you that I had a new pep in my step!! Baby! It was awesome. Who knew that hair could make you feel so free? I felt amazing and I still do.

So this was just an example of how God can get a message to you, but you must be discerning. I just love God! Don’t you?

What are some unorthodox ways that God has spoken to you?
